Polish-American scientist Alfred Korzybski once said that “the map is not the territory.” In other words, a map is an abstraction of land, a mere model of reality just as skeuomorphism makes an icon for trash look like a garbage can. Similarly, the medium is the message.

  1. I’m really appreciating that morsel of a concept: how what we know … is not necessarily what we are and feel. Seeing the words, ‘the map is not the territory’, invites me to approach conversations with myself and others with wider awareness – to keep expanding my field of curiousity to sense what my body is experiencing in this moment and wonder what the other is experiencing
