Marcus Intalex aka Marcus Kaye/Trevino was a drum n bass from the UK, known for spinning the liquid and soul side of DnB.
He created one of the best– if not the best–mixes of the Fabric Live compilations. The record introduced me to the likes of Calibre and Alix Perez. Fabric made the album available for streaming for the next week or so. Stream it below and be sure to snag a copy on their website.
Intalex’s last release Four: Fit EP appeared on his Manchester-based Soul:R record label. Peep the stellar tune ‘Step Forward’ below.
DJ Rum is UK electronic producer Felix Manuel. His latest drop the Forgetting EP blends a melange of vibes including jazz, juke, and breakbeat rhythms. The track ‘Projection’ sounds like a Cinematic Orchestra piece.
It’s hard to nail down the best track from the genre-hopping EP; all tracks are tasty in their own right. But the shifty pace of ‘Induction’ which made it debut on the Gilles Peterson show may delight your ears as well.
Be sure to check out the crunchy bass on the 2016 B-side release of ‘Abandon Me’ as well:
The results can be massive when old drum n bass heavyweights come together. Total Science is drum n bass duo Jason Greenlaugh and Paul Smith from Oxford, UK who recently teamed up with legends Digital & Spirit to make the C . I . A v Phantom Audio Vol 1 & 2 EP.
‘Overlord’ is an old-school jungle take that still delivers a cutting-edge bassline.
LSB is UK drum n bass artist Luke Beavon. His debut album Content drops on record label Soul:r November 4 but you can download the first two singles ‘Missing You’ featuring DRS/Tyler Daley and Tumult now on Bandcamp.
He follows in the footsteps of Soul:r label head/producer Marcus Intalex, who also blends soul and melancholy into liquid drum n bass. Check out LSB’s site for more information or follow him on Twitter for more details.
