“Expert” Advice

Not just anyone can be a doctor from Harvard, because if they could, it would mean nothing. – Chris Brogan

We’re all “experts.” The Internet convinced us so. All you need is an Internet profile and the rest is a mirage.

Believe in something so easy it may even come true. The good news is that we have a chance. The ultimate challenge is doing the work.

You’ll be graded on utility. If you say what you are and fail to live up in proving useful advice, people will dash quickly.

My suggestion is to call yourself an expert and then work backward. Put the work in, fail, let people unfollow, until you spend hours a day mastering the technique and rebuilding your tribe.

The Internet is a motivating force. You just might become what you imagine. But there’s work ahead; that’s where the “experts” live on or fade away into the digital abyss.
