Learning how to DIY

It’s not the work so much as the packaging and distribution that stops people from shipping.

But the days of professional book or record design, manufacturing, inventory, recording, and distribution are all over. You’ve got a computer, a Smartphone, and the Internet to get all that done.

There’s still a big gap between the creatives producing the content and self-publishing. Some content owners assume the old system of print and contracts. Only of they knew how to run the show they could be their own label, own the rights to their content, and sell directly to buyers.

Technology isn’t democratizing the tools as fast as you think. There are heaps of people doing the work and waiting to be discovered.

Taking ownership is now an essential part of the creative process. The new world requires that you do a lot of the marketing and sales yourself.
