Digital communications means less but saves time and in some cases, emotions.

You can broadcast major announcements on Facebook with a click of a button. The reaction to your news will be judged by likes and comments. Perhaps the people that care for you will follow up with a call. Perhaps you already spoke to them.

The inkling to share deeply emotional events is not new but to disseminate them on Facebook and other social networks with unknown others discredits the raw emotion.

Some people embrace unfettered emotion to receive widespread communal support. The overwhelming support can be soothing. But an email, a like, comment, all trivialize seriousness.

Talk about it all you want. Seek comfort. But consider doing it in private with those who are equally affected and who can actually help.
