Signal and the Noise

I’m wearing my US soccer jersey today on the train and am generating loads of side conversation about the US-Germany game.

I typically don’t like to signal what I’m wearing like a fashionista but it’s important to remind people that you care about the game and the country. Passion makes it easy to ignore being the stimulus for World Cup banter.

I’ve yet to step out into the streets of New York but I guarantee I’m not the only person walking around in the red, white, and blue. One nation, one team. So let’s do this.

If you're an artist, photographer, writer, etc., I highly recommend creating your own blog and publishing something new every day (read my post on how to set up a FREE blog on Wordpress).

Fair Weather Fans

Winning changes everything. It turns the lazy fan into the fair weather fan. The only reason they care now is because everybody else is talking about it. Interest rises with social dialogue.

But having more supporters (even if they’re temporary) gives the original supporters more to cheer about. The real fan’s duty is to show the newbies what real passion is.

Losing hurts. That’s what care does to its followers. But losing is also part of the larger story. Living through the ups and downs and still showing interest and support are what being a ‘real’ fan is all about.
