There are smarter people than you and I in this world. You can probably name a few people at the top of your head right now.
But acuity often goes underused because some smart people are too lazy, too scared, or too analytical for action.
The Lazy Smart: These people excel in work but wait for others to tell them what to do. They also have a tendency to philosophize and act above those obeying and working hard.
The Scared Smart: These people are the class leaders or executives that have various degrees but get caught up in red tape. As soon as you accept a system of hurdles, you stop asking questions that lead to innovation.
The Analytical Smart: These people can do quick calculations and speak eloquently. But they tend to hesitate and wait for the right answers before taking any important action. Rarely, do they follow their gut.
“He who hesitates is lost.” – Joseph Addison
Nothing replaces doing the work. Constant action, trial and error, comes from the combination of curiosity and sound judgement.
There will always someone smarter and quicker than you. But if what you want depends on them, prepare for nothing to get done. Take it upon yourself to take responsibility and lead.
