Sherwood & Pinch are London-based dub producers Adrian Sherwood and Rob Ellis aka Pinch. This is the second collaboration from the duo that originally met at the Fabric London night club. “Having spent around five years working together, our work flow has developed and improved considerably, and we both feel that the music we’re making now is something neither of us could or would do alone,” says Ellis.

‘Itchy Face’ is one of the standout arrangements on the latest record
Man Vs. Sofa, trickling with their trademark bassline punches before stepping into soft touches of the piano. Meanwhile, ‘Roll Call’ and ‘Gun Law’ ring with murderous dread overtones.

“I’m really proud of Man Vs. Sofa – Pinch and I have developed a proper great sound together and this is a real step forward,” affirms Sherwood. A grand step forward from two heavyweight producers, indeed.

Minor Science – Naturally Spineless

Minor Science AKA Angus Finlayson (image via whities)

Minor Science is British producer Angus Finlayson based in Berlin, following in the footsteps of other techno music expats like Youandewan. He recently dropped his third EP entitled Whities 004, named after the London-based Whities imprint which released his previous record

‘Naturally Spineless’ is a dark, grimy listen full of deep bass that briefly glitters around the 3:30 mark to shed some light. The vibe stays true to his production alias. As he explained in an interview with Truants, “a ‘minor’ science works upwards from the particularities of the things themselves.”

Abi Ocia – Running

“What are you afraid of?” That’s the sample echoing within ‘Running,’ a beautiful debut ballad from West London singer/songwriter Abi Ocia.

At first listen, the piano buildup and soft vocals may remind you of Little Dragon’s opening salvo, ‘Twice.’ The lyrics are also reflective and internal. Telling the blog Pigeons and Airplanes, Ocia said:

“I wanted to explore an inner dialog with myself, following a journey of seeking out something greater than what you are used to, even if it means purging yourself of things you hold dear.”

According to her Facebook page, this is the first of many new tracks to come.

The psychedelic video tells the story of a primitive man who stumbles upon modern tribalism; fashion, music, sex, booze. As he tries to escape this world he encounters a temptress who breaks his resolve. The film then breaks down into a larger global party where everyone is dancing along to the end of the world, everything descends into a chaotic orgy of destruction leaving the tribal man broke, yet enlightened, and so the wheel continues.

A music video composed from hundreds of GIFs.  Boom.

The Lost World of the London Coffeehouse

Coffee, in fact, was the Viagra of the day, making “the erection more vigorous, the ejaculation more full, add[ing] a spiritual ascendency to the sperm”.

And now we just use it to wake up and write.
