The making of Isle of Dogs + VSCO presets for the film

Twenty-seven animators worked on the new Wes Anderson flick Isle of Dogs. This video demonstrates some of the techniques and challenges they faced in production.

According to one of the creators, “one of the hardest things to do in animation is a walk.” So they strapped cameras to the backs of dogs to understand a canine’s movements and other points of view.

VSCO releases Isle of Dogs Presets

Photo editing app VSCO released some filters to help promote the movie. I took some photos of my dog and applied the presets.  DOG 2 gives the images a yellow tint while DOG 3 adds a pink hue to images.

Lo and Behold, it’s Werner Herzog talking about technology again

A month after legendary director Werner Herzog inquired about Pokemon GO, he is back with a new movie that questions the entire ethos of the Internet.

Is the Internet helping or hurting human relationships? Are we creative as we think we are or will robots think and act superior?

The Internet claims to be the modern-day railroad, connecting ideas, business, and communication. However, it increasingly removes us from present reality.

“Have the monks stopped meditating? They all seem to be tweeting.”

The Internet is the most important piece of technology in our lifetime. But what happens if it becomes less of a gift and more of a curse?

The era of constant photography

“In 5-10 years, photography will largely involve pointing video cameras at things and finding the best images in the editing phase.”

Always on, looking back through hundreds of snaps and posting only the highlights. Sounds a bit too perfect, to never miss anything.

Point, shoot, and capture will be a thing of the past. The effort is in merely recording and reviewing.
