At least the snow’s melting.
Snow, ice, slush, and more grime this week. I tiptoed, jumped, and circumnavigated the streets to find cleaner paths. Let’s just say I need a new pair of Vans.
Snowboarding New York City
Cold, snow, and ice seems to be the theme in New York the last few weeks.
On the VSCO Grid.
The weather is fickle. But so is the mind. Not surprisingly, the two play off each other.
If you want to be less stressed, move out West. Trust me, I’ve done it and it works. Everything that I was worried about just disappeared in my 6 months in LA. The East Coast, on the other hand, is a roller coaster.
Just look at all the snow that got dumped on New York this week. Sure, there’s sledding and beautiful scenery but the beach is nice every day. And the sand and 70 degrees is not going anywhere.
Of course, the creativity that emerges from the dark days and moodiness through the four seasons (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer) is irreplaceable. Do you think Edgar Allen Poe could have written such morose poems in LA? Don’t think so.
The weather especially, but all your surroundings in general, predetermine your mindset. Having lived on both coasts, you definitely get a richer mixture of vibes on the East coast, for better or worse.
Either way, creatives need fuel. And the external world is a huge part of that. Where you live and what you breathe impacts how you think. In the end, we need both the good and bad days so we have something to compare them to.
