There are five types of people using social networks

  1. People that obsessively pay attention to helpful links, treating Twitter like an RSS feed.

  2. People that seek entertainment, looking for laughs and gossip.

  3. People that completely ignore social networks. They know it’s there but just don’t care.

  4. People that consume social platforms with balance, deliberately taking an information diet on both helpful and entertaining links.

  5. People that log onto Facebook or Twitter looking for any piece of content because they’re bored.

The best mix is probably between 1, 4, and 5; 5 for the occasional roaming surprise. You might as well learn something on social networks if you’re going to spend time there.

Which type of social seeker are you?
