This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month.

Mark Zuckerberg Facebook surpassed the 1 Billion user mark. Amazing milestone.

But I think the 1 Billion mark also represents an inflection point. Facebook now feels it has every reason to monetize its users, whether it’s through paid posts or leveraging user data even more for advertisers.

Facebook has 1 in every 7 people on the planet. And it wants to gobble up the world, as seen by Zuckerberg’s recent visit to Russia. China still blocks Facebook.

Facebook is the default social network. Some argue that Facebook may disappear one day like MySpace. But it’s proven durable and is still a hard drive for friends.

Congratulations to Facebook on hitting a huge milestone. Now it faces the grand challenge of balancing profits to meet Wall Street expectations while keeping users highly engaged.
