Life & Philosophy Productivity & Work

Turn the Dark Off

We all know people that can’t turn it off. They don’t have an off switch. They can’t relax because they’re working all the time.

Conversely, we all know people that can’t get going. They don’t have an on switch. They’re listless and unmotivated every day.

Most people are either one or the other. Americans are the worst, confusing work with play. They answer emails from the couch and grocery line. The French are the antithesis of overworking, prioritizing long vacations and frequent lunch breaks.

If productivity is addicting, so is laziness. Balancing work and life requires focus. Being present in the now, space, and time is the only on and off switch you need.
