The image battleground is once again intensifying, this time with Twitter offering its own filters to compete with Instagram.
If you can’t buy it, build it yourself. That seems to be Twitter’s modus operandi in this scenario.
And why not, not every image is Instagrammable. Sometimes I just like to use Twitter’s native image client to tweet a picture. I wouldn’t mind cleaning that image up a bit using some basic Twitter filters.
But whatever Twitter does here, it still can’t compete with Instagram. Instagram already uniquely positioned itself as the go-to mobile photography app that reaches across common users and real photographers.
Filters are a nice add for Twitter but competing with the YouTube of images is a zero sum game.
