What Modernity?

  • Behind the times
  • Not getting it
  • Old school
  • Backward
  • Slow

Modernists criticize those people that refuse to change.

But rather than adopt the massiveness of new ideas, traditionalists guards the past. They cling to their old ways of doing things, not because they’re superior but because the process still works.

In a world obsessed with the next gadget or app, it’s the old way of doing things that appear to be unnecessary. But writing a book by hand, typing it on a manual typewriter, and eventually a laptop all produce the same result.

Just because it’s easier to do the work doesn’t make the outcome any better. Just because something is new doesn’t make it more “innovative.”

Appreciate the past. Learn from it. Because you’ll still have to decide what to do while the car drives itself.
