“What’s the Wifi password?”

“What’s the Wifi password?” That may be the first thing you ask for when staying over at someone’s house or at a hotel?

WiFi is like water. It’s more important than having a bathroom, a bed, or a shower.

But here’s the thing. Sometimes the Wifi is more spotty than the phone’s internet network. That’s when one or two bars are better than a Web page that loads halfway, if at all.

Most people don’t even know what Wifi stands for.

A common misconception is that the term Wi-Fi is short for “wireless fidelity,” however this is not the case. Wi-Fi is simply a trademarked phrase that means IEEE 802.11x.

Posit: Because of increased Internet network speeds, we won’t need Wifi. The Internet will just be in the air, or always on tap like water.

Until that day comes, let’s enjoy the beautiful struggle of connecting via Wifi. And bask in the way the way the French pronounce Wifi: “Wee-fee?”
