What’s Your “Secret Weapon?”

I overheard a child say this to his friend on the playground yesterday. As a kid, the answer to that question could be anything in the world, even imaginary, e.g. “I can fly.” But as an adult the answer is far too practical and weird.

My secret weapon is collecting, remixing, and connecting disparate things like music, articles, etc. into coherent patterns. Eclecticism is at the essence of my strengths. That’s why I set up my newsletter and write this blog, partly because I want to understand how it all connects.

Everyone has a secret weapon. It doesn’t have to be work-related, nor make you money. Your secret weapon could be cooking, juggling, or magic. Don’t discredit the things you do well and that make you unique. Share your secret weapon with the world, even if you can no longer dream it up like a child.
