Work More, Make More?

The bottom line is that productivity — driven by technology and well-functioning markets — drives wealth far more than hours worked.

Americans work hard, too hard. We overdo it, burnout, and overdo it some more. Aimless sabbatical anyone?

Canadians are richer than us, have lower unemployment, and they spend less time at work. They’re probably happier too.

You’d think that in a digital environment we could get more stuff done on the go and work less. But because we’re always connected, we work more. More is perceived as better.

We need more balance. Having kids is one way to do that.
