Zero Encounters

The era of shortcuts is here.

With just a few touches on a Smartphone, you can automate your life from the couch. You can shop for groceries and have them delivered to your doorstep. You can FaceTime with a family member in the next room. You can even send him/her a tired emoji and delay a conversation completely.

Everything is like an app experience. Soon enough smart cars will drive for us. We’ll just go along for the ride. Computers will fight each other instead of armies. We’ll live vicariously through screens and buttons.

When technology replaces human action, it prevents happy accidents. You won’t crash into an old friend at the grocery. Your sibling won’t ask you to play catch because they know your’re busy. You’ll miss seeing the Fall leaves because you’ll have your head down in your phone while the car is driving itself. Always glued to the Smartphone remote, you won’t know when to flee!

Take caution on the ease of the future, where a technological shortcut may prevent a game-changing life experience.
