Writing about life and arts

Out of control

We’ve lost our impulse control. The dopamine squeezed into our heads from touching our screens has made us impatient and short-tempered.

Instead of responding to the world as it is, we respond to as we’d like it to be. But life isn’t a video game.

Patience comes back with practice — the frustration from being deviceless rebuilds the inner gears of self-control. Fresh information from books helps counteract the addictive sorcery of our phones. So does a prescription to a walk in nature

We become what we expect, as it plays a vital role in carving how we experience the world.

So instead of chasing that rectangular glare, take boredom’s imagination for a ride, all the better while we take your thoughts for a walk.
