Art, like the emoji, represented a shortcut to illustrate mental states. In the darkness of chaos, a paradoxical pursuit of longed-for fear and happiness emerged through the brisk tempo of the mind.

It took him a minute to grasp the concept of retirement. The pen never stopped, its act synthesizing brain and heart. There’s a lot of processing going on between the ears. Searching and making meaning were among them.
