Bots without essence

Brilliant but brainless mimics, a subtraction from any communicative investment. The document makes clear that the machines while offering a helping hand, are not standing on firm ground,

We see them from their perspective. How can we not? We drummed up their code and fed them with human contact. But the bits and bytes contain less embodied cognition than an octopus, a creature free to move any body part to the whims of intelligence.
